Marketplace Delivery Terms
This policy is not final. Some details are still being confirmed and are marked below. Everything that is stated here applies now.
Who this is for: anyone buying or selling on Campus Commerce, the student marketplace inside Fresherz. It explains how an item actually gets from a seller to a buyer, what it costs, how long it takes, and what happens when it does not go to plan.
Campus Commerce is built around meeting in person, not around couriers. Almost every order here is a student handing something to another student on or beside a campus they both use. That is not a limitation we are apologising for — it is the arrangement in which the buyer sees the thing before paying, nobody's home address is exchanged, and there is no parcel to lose. Everything below follows from it.
How a delivery happens
- The vendor accepts your order and proposes a meeting point and a time in the order's messages.
- You agree, or suggest another. Neither of you is obliged to accept a place or an hour you are not comfortable with.
- You meet. You check the item. You pay in cash unless something else was agreed in writing on the order.
- Both of you confirm the handover on the order. That is what completes it — one side confirming is not enough, and a vendor cannot close an order on your behalf.
Meeting points
A shop names the campus it trades at, and buyers find it through that campus. Meet somewhere public: a hall gate, a library entrance, a canteen, a shop front. In daylight where you can, and bring somebody with you if you would rather.
- A vendor may not require a private address, theirs or yours, as a condition of the sale.
- Neither side has to give the other a home address, and Campus Commerce never shows one.
- If a proposed place or time feels wrong, say so and propose another, or cancel. Cancelling for this reason is never held against you.
What delivery costs
Each shop sets its own delivery charge, and it is shown on the order before you place it — separately from the price of the item, so you can see what each part costs. Many campus vendors charge nothing at all, because they are walking across the same campus you are on.
The total shown when you place the order is the total the vendor may ask for. A vendor asking for more at the handover — a late delivery surcharge, a rounding up, a fee that was never on the order — is breaking these terms. Refuse it, and report the shop.
How long it takes
Delivery is arranged between the two of you rather than promised by a schedule, because the vendor is a person with lectures rather than a warehouse. In practice most campus handovers happen the same day or the next.
A vendor must hand the item over within 3 days of accepting the order when the handover is on the shop's own campus, within 5 days anywhere else in the same city, and within 10 days in another city. After that you may cancel the order at no cost, and it is recorded as failed against the shop. Any advance you paid must be returned within 10 days.
Campus Commerce is open at every approved campus listed on the site. A shop trades at the campus it names. It may deliver elsewhere only if it says so on its storefront; then its stated delivery charge and terms apply, the charge is shown on the order before you place it, and the vendor stays responsible for the item until it is in your hands.
Who actually delivers
The vendor does, in person or through somebody they trust. Fresherz operates no delivery service, employs no riders and contracts no courier. If a vendor chooses to use a courier for an order, that is their arrangement and their cost, and the vendor remains responsible to you for the item until you have it in your hands — a parcel lost by a courier is not your problem to solve.
If nobody turns up
- The vendor does not come, or stops answering. Give it a reasonable wait, then open a complaint on the order. The vendor has 72 hours to answer before it escalates to our staff by itself.
- You cannot come. Tell the vendor as early as you can and offer another time. A buyer who repeatedly arranges meetings and does not attend may have their account restricted — a vendor's time is worth the same as yours.
- Neither of you can agree a time at all. Cancel the order. It costs nothing, no money has moved, and neither side is marked.
Checking the item at the handover
This is the most important paragraph on the page. Open it, look at it, test it, count it — before you pay. If it is not what the listing described, do not accept it and do not hand over any money. No vendor may hurry you past this or refuse you the time, and a vendor who does is one to walk away from.
If you discover a fault only after you get home, you are not out of options: see returns, refunds and exchanges. You may open a complaint for 7 days after the handover was confirmed, and write a review for 30 days. But a problem found at the meeting is settled at the meeting, and everything after that is harder for both of you.
Damaged, wrong or missing on arrival
Refuse it. Do not pay, do not confirm the handover, and record what happened in the order's messages while you are both standing there. Photographs taken at the meeting are the best evidence anybody involved will ever have, including the vendor if they are in the right.
Safety, and what we will act on
Meet in public. Do not pay before you have the item. Do not go to a private address. Do not share your home address, your class timetable or your identity documents with a vendor — no legitimate order needs any of them.
Report a shop that pressures you towards a private meeting, demands payment before the handover, asks for personal details, or behaves in a way that makes you uncomfortable. We read every report, and we suspend shops for this. You will never be penalised for cancelling an order over a safety concern.
Questions and complaints
For a question about these terms, write to support@fresherzjob.com. For a problem with a specific order, use the complaint form on the order itself — it starts the vendor's 72-hour clock, which an email does not.
